Manufacturing of springs by hot winding method
The safety and reliability of railway transportation depend on the quality of springs for leaf spring suspension. Traditionally, railway springs are manufactured by hot winding. The automated production process allows minimizing the possibility of errors and deviations from the standard.
The production includes the following stages:
- preparation of a workpiece with a certain cross-section of a given section;
- the blank is heated for rolling and drawing the ends;
- reheating the workpiece to a given temperature;
- winding;
- quenching in oil;
- high-temperature tempering;
- hot compression;
- grinding of ends;
- chamfering;
- shot blasting to harden the surface and prepare for painting;
- electrostatic powder-polymer coating.
At each stage, the characteristics of the process and the parameters of the springs are monitored.
